Infor-Med, Inc. Announces New Praxis EMR Version 4 with The Praxis Knowledge Exchanger

Market leading EMR now offers rapid start-ups, without forcing doctors into templates.

Woodland Hills, California October 12, 2007, Infor-Med Corporation today announced the pre-release of Praxis Electronic Medical Records Version 4, featuring the Praxis EMR Knowledge Exchanger. This dynamic new tool allows physicians to tap into the knowledge of other clinicians enabling rapid start-ups for new users and enhanced charting capabilities for long-time Praxis users. Industry experts site major advantages over template-based EMR systems.

"Doctors don't like being forced to enter data into rigid fields repetitively and that's exactly what they are reduced to with templates," said Clayton Reynolds, MD, FACP, FACPE, a medical quality expert. "It's the inherent limitations of template technology and constraints of pick-lists that turn physicians into mere technicians. Medicine is very much an art form and no two doctors practice the same way." Praxis Electronic Medical Record System is based on a unique technology called Concept Processing that learns the way each user practices medicine to continually improve patient documentation. The Concept Processor uses neural network thinking to document each case progressively faster and better by learning from a provider's previous encounters.

"Praxis EMR has by far the best note generator on the market," said Daniel Griffin, MD, winner of the 2006 HIMSS Davies award for EMR implementation." At issue, though, was the perceived initial time investment required during start-up. Now, a new Praxis user receives an immediate infusion of medical knowledge enabling a rapid launch into electronic charting. The medical knowledge is browsed in real time and acts like a window into another expert's mind. And, once the new knowledge is imported, it adapts and grows exponentially following the doctor's own thinking process. "It's very exciting!" says Griffin.

The new Praxis Knowledge Exchanger brings three major advances to Concept Processing technology: It provides a first time user specialty specific methodologies and texts to begin charting immediately. It acts as a heuristic model for optimal performance, guiding new users with real-life experience from clinicians who have used Praxis for years. It enables seasoned users to benefit from the knowledge of fellow practitioners, share their own clinical knowledge, and contribute to the advancement of medicine.

"Template based EMR systems function within a static framework, "said Richard M. Low, MD, CEO of Infor-Med Corporation. " The template is forced upon the physician, and the interface is cumbersome and difficult to modify. Also, due to their structured nature, templates do not grow organically like Praxis Knowledge bases do. The Praxis development group worked for years to perfect the Knowledge Exchanger. We believe it will revolutionize medicine, one practice at a time."
